Foundation, Color, and Memory
I create large-scale abstract paintings built from a structured system of grid, color, and gesture — work that holds a considered balance between order and instinct.
My process begins with color as a carrier of memory: an exploration of how feeling is held, sorted, given shape, and stored away.
The foundation of this grid system was born out of a profound personal loss, evolving from a curiosity around the need to process, contain, and navigate an overwhelming landscape of grief one quiet square at a time.
What began as a vital mechanism for healing has grown into a universal language of containment—exploring how we compartmentalize our internal worlds to survive them.
Each piece adapts in palette, scale, and canvas depth to the space it's created for, while remaining, at its core, an original, hand-painted work — no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington, and am based in SW Virginia, where I work with private collectors and commercial spaces alike — from single pieces to large-scale commissions for hospitality and interior projects.
